Research undertaken will generally be conducted online, or using public archives such as Scotlandspeople, National Records of Scotland and local authority archive centres. However on occasion we may use other public archives and private archives elsewhere in Scotland. I will always advise how long it is likely to take for me to complete a body of work – this may vary from a day or two to months depending on circumstances.
Payment will be accepted via Paypal unless otherwise agreed with the client. In most cases, my charges will be as follows for general research – research results will be reported by email.
- 2 hours (research+report) £54.00
- 3 hours (research+report) £81.00
- 4 hours (research+report) £108.00
- 8 hours (research+report) £200.00
Expenses will be charged at cost for required travel to locations other than Scotlandspeople and NRS in Edinburgh, the Heritage Hub in Hawick and the Ewart Library in Dumfries. Other charges like postage and any copying fees charged by archives will be passed on at cost.
