Family originally from Drumfries. Peter’s granny was Sarah Sturgeon. Her father was David Sturgeon. His father was William Sturgeon. His father was Charles Sturgeon who married Mary Casey around 1860.

If you want to find out the names of the 15 Sturgeons from 1585 that I mentioned in the article then go to rps.ac.uk and search ‘Sturgeon’ in the Search Box (use Translation option). Then select the reference from 1585. I believe all of these people fought for Lord Maxwell in his raid on Stirling Castle. Most were tenants on his Dumfriesshire lands.

So far I’ve traced back to Robert sturgeon born 1610, but I can’t find much past that.
