I’m reaching out on behalf of my uncle who passed 18 years ago, my mum his sister was his next of kin. He was sent to this school in 1969. He often compared his time here to the movie ‘Sleepers’ he spoke of awful abuse and it really did shape his life after leaving. We are trying to get his records. As a family we would like to do anything possible to help those victims still alive today in memory of him. He didn’t see justice but we will carry that torch for him to help others. That sounds quite likely. There were plenty Cathel Kerrs born in Assynt at the time although the earliest parish register baptisms seem to be from about 1798. In fact amazingly it seems to be the only parish in all of Scotland where Cathels were baptized (and the majority of them were Kerrs).
